Some things are worth fighting for.
This
Halloween I will be married for six years. I love my wedding date/anniversary date, because it represents more than just a love for my husband. My husband is a very one-of-a-kind, rare, unique soul.
And I had to fight to make my marriage happen. I eloped with him on a very romantic dusky Halloween under a full moon. If I had waited for everyone's approval, I'd be single, dead...or worse.
No dramatizing, it's just that my marriage, (an event in a woman's life that traditionally nullifies what little independence women have of their own), actually gave me back more than I had to start with. I stood up and asserted my vertebrate self to the world. It was the gladest I've ever been to have a spine. I kept my name not because it's the greatest name in the world or because I hate my husband's name, it's simply that it's
mine.
I know, hear me roar...or howl rather.
