10 Things

Ten things I’m optimistic about:

1Getting published—currently working on sprucing up a wip (work in progress) for submission
2My husband getting a better job—small project to small project is good, but nerve-wracking
3Losing weight—I’m working out with weights three times a week and walking and jogging some
4Improving my self-esteem—that’s an area that will always need improvement
5Getting rid of some credit cards—discipline. Don’t spend!
6My health—despite my weight, I am very healthy
7Getting pregnant—the clock is ticking
8My eighth anniversary—I’m proud of my friendship and romance with my husband
9Owning my own home—it’s the American dream and I want a slice...hell, a crumb
10Keeping my regrets as few as possible—I don’t want to be on my deathbed wishing I’d said or done something

The Descent

Finally. A decent horror movie. Normally I don't write movie reviews, although sometimes I wonder why I don't since I like movies, particularly horror movies and I could write just as good a review as anyone else.
I caught The Descent on Sunday afternoon after having read some reviews stating that it was good. Now that sounds like I need reviews to tell me what to like. That assumption would be incorrect. I need reviews to tell me what not to waste my money on. And this was a safe gamble. With an almost all-female cast of women who can actually act, save the first scene or two, this was akin to The Thing with its all-male ensemble. And while I'm on The Thing, I'll mention that even the music reminded me of The Thing. A nod to John Carpenter maybe? At any rate, it's a good flick and uses some surprisingly simple tricks to gather some screams. The monsters reminded me of the vamps in Blade 2 but they still creeped me out. And that's hard to do. The only complaint I have is every now and then the accents of one or two actors got in the way of understanding their dialogue, but all in all, not a biggie. Four stars.

Back From the Dead

bumblebee symbol of the Schworak Indians. meaning: Honesty & Pure Thinking - Willingness & Drive

it's mid july and i'm on fire. no, not with the heat of desire, though that's never far from my mind, but on fire from yet another insufferable Texas summer.

yes, george, global warming is a crock of shit.

despite the fact that spring has passed, i am busy like a little bee. okay, so maybe i'm not cute and fuzzy or black and yellow or able to fly, but i AM buzz-buzz-buzzin' through the flowers!

. . .okay, so i'm not technically doing that either. but i have been really creative these last few weeks and if you knew me, you'd know how good that is. i'm such a harpie, a gorgon and a beast when i can't produce. all those children shivering underneath their covers can breathe a collective sigh because i've no time for nightmares these days. i'm making my own! (insert evil high-pitched maniacal laugh here)

i told one of the guys on the forum (the Erotic Writer's Forum, that is) that i was in short story heaven. i've come up with the idea that if i can't devote the time needed to developing a novel-length project that i'll just work on shorter things and satisfy both my current caregiver duties AND my creative ones. it's all good, as they say.

Butterflies are Free to Fly

i did a animal tarot spread and asked about kalynth sun. the results were fairly positive. i got snake for north which was all about ambition and transmutation. in the west i had bat which symbolizes old ways and new way, in the east i drew rabbit which discussed fear and in the south i picked the swan which basically told me to get grounded and wake up!
