Hot, Hot, Hot

I had to start a new post. I didn't want too much of my creative endeavors tainted by my vicious, unpatriotic, un-American evil Democrat-loving hate-mongering.

(snicker)

Had a really good idea for yet another story and spent the night outlining it. I don't want to give too much away but...it's...dirty. Yeah, that's it. Dirty.

Got hot just thinking about it! That's a good sign, right?

Keep On Rockin'

Keep on rockin' in the free world...

For as long as you can, my friends. I can't help but think current kings aside that we'll get nuked any day now.

Did you catch our Vice President on CNN's The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer? I don't usually blog on politics but I can't not blog on this. Folks, that white-haired smirking bastard thinks he's got you fooled. And worse than that, he's the rudest son-of-a-bitch that ever walked.

Sigh. That doesn't feel a whole lot better to tell you the damned truth.

Oh, so, lemme get this straight. Your daughter isn't a lesbian, she's just friends for fifteen years with another woman both of whom have never been married and, and, and they like children and came up with this neat idea to have a child by artifical insemination because neither one of them ever got married and so they decided they'd raise it together. And you're "proud" of your daughter, right? And asking questions about her is "out of line."

All-righty.

And Hillary wouldn't make a good president because "She's a Democrat." In other words this thing called the Constitution that all those people died for two or three hundred years ago in that thing called the Revolution and are dieing for today isn't good enough? I guess I missed that day in school when we sailed from England and away from King George to this place called America and the greatest minds in history drew up this crappy 'ol document that outlined a protection and respect for all our beliefs, I say, I say, all our beliefs, and that stupid, uneccessary two party thing. Right?

M'kay.

Sigh. That feels more like it.

Working on a story for Phaze that I'm not certain I'll have done in time. But I'd rather not send it in if it's not as close to perfection as possible. Time constraints considered, I might make it.

F

The weather is cold, quiet and gray. I sit at the computer all day and bleed my brain.

Hard and fast at work on an untitled WIP that I am planning on submitting to Phaze. The letter this year is "F."

"F" is for fury.
"F" is for force.
"F" is for frontier.
"F" is for frost.

I'm going to try for all four, but if I can only manage to write two out of four, I'll be happy.

Release

Well, I went and done it.

I have officially entered a writing contest. My second so far. This one is with Amber Quill Publishing, their Fourth Annual Amber Heat Wave contest. I submitted a short story called "Hot Wings" and will find out the first of March if I made the cut. If I did, I will be published for the first time since high school. If not, I will learn a lot from the experience. Kay Derwydd, a lovely woman from the Erotic Writers Forum, edited my manuscript for me. She was extremely helpful and made me feel hopeful about my chances. I have to admit, it would be a helluva way to start off the year.

34

Today was my birthday.
I'm thirty four.
However, from the word 'go' it didn't feel very--birthday.

Good things: Killer white chocolate mousse cake and a cool bluish-purple Liz Claiborne purse from my mom and step-dad.
Jubilee, a Living Dead Doll to me from me.
Fifty bucks from my grandparents.
My husband was here for the weekend.

Bad things: No one put candles on my cake.
No one sang "Happy Birthday" to me.
I did not make a wish.
No one chased me around the table threatening to give me a birthday spanking.
For the first time in history, my father sent me nothing.

And it's not that I didn't like my gifts because I did. But the whole thing was just so--Let's-Get-This-Over-With. Such is a birthday so soon after Christmas I guess. Still, the whole thing pisses me off because these little things happen but once a year. We never know when we've celebrated our last or how many more we'll have. And no one seems to care how important it is to celebrate birthdays. Not my birthday. Not yours. But everyone's birthday.

So excuse me while I sit in my shit fit puddle and stew.

2007

Goodbye 2006. Kiss my ass.
Hello 2007. Gimme a kiss.

Now this is the part where I say something witty.

Resolutions so boring, typical, and unimaginative:
1. lose weight/get in shape/change my attitude toward health
2. get out of credit card debt and exercise some monetary restraint
3. work harder and more diligently toward getting published and writing every day

Hello 2007.
